Sports: An Introduction & Football.

Let's face it.  Our boy is a sports junkee.  Always has been, even when he was little.  While he enjoyed playing over the years, let's just say that he had some issues-especially when it came to winning the big one.  You could label him the Chicago Cubs of his sporting world.

To paraphrase something that Patrick Ewing once said.  "I've won at every level but college and pros."  Mike and his teams never won the big one at the local level.

One of the sports "our boy" worked on when he was younger was football.  Pee-Wee football or the Jr. Huskies was a team that defined the term "character building season" every year he played.  I don't think these guys ever won a game.  I can remember a few times when the big 72-0 flashed on the scoreboard.  That's 72 for the opponents by the way.  Here are a few highlights from those formative years.

The warrior prepares for battle!

I've made this one extra large so you can see Michael.  That's him on the receiving end of a pretty vicious blow after catching a pass over the middle.  I think this was the moment when those dreams of the NFL pretty much went on permanent hold.

Did I mention you can make these photos larger by double clicking on the image if you want the full effect!

Notice the look of dejection on these faces.  They only lost 42-7 on this day.

After this our boy's football career was pretty much confined to the sandlot variety.

Or the spectator version.

With the exception of this season, these guys weren't winning much back then either!
